Rainbow Week Sweater
The cheerful days-of-the-week knit that became Alberta Ferretti’s viral off-runway hit.
Story & heritage
Rainbow Week launched in 2017 as Alberta Ferretti's first capsule collection: seven colorful sweaters, each dedicated to a day of the week. Fashion coverage described it as a hit and noted that the idea expanded into swimwear and other Rainbow Week pieces.
Unlike the current formal gowns, Rainbow Week is the brand's playful pop object — cashmere/wool knitwear with block-letter weekdays that made the house feel immediate, collectible and easy to recognize.
Materials & craft
Editorial and retail sources describe the original sweaters as wool-and-cashmere or cashmere-blend knits with contrasting day-of-week intarsia across the chest. The point is graphic clarity: color, softness and a single word.
How to choose & style
Treat it like a bright sweatshirt, not a precious runway piece: denim, slip skirts and flats all work. The oversized Friday/Sunday mood is the easiest; tighter color-blocked versions make the word graphic.
