Story & heritage
Allbirds began with the Wool Runner: Tim Brown and Joey Zwillinger launched the company in 2015, and the Wool Runner followed in March 2016 as the casual sneaker that gave the brand its public identity.
The current official product page still frames it as the original wool sneaker that started it all — breathable, lightweight, sock-optional and machine washable, built for walking, cooler weather and everyday casual wear.
Materials & craft
The Wool Runner is built around a wool upper, a flexible low-profile sneaker shape and washable construction. Allbirds lists the model with a 7.07 kg CO₂e product carbon score and positions the material for soft warmth rather than technical running.
How to choose & style
Choose the Wool Runner when the outfit wants understatement: cropped denim, soft tailoring, travel layers and anything that benefits from a quiet black sneaker. The cream sole keeps the True Black colourway from reading too severe.
