Story & heritage
AMI was founded in Paris in 2011 by Alexandre Mattiussi, and the house name plays on both the French word for friend and the designer’s initials. The Ami de Coeur line, introduced in 2017, turned that friendly Paris code into the small heart-topped A that now anchors the brand’s most recognisable wardrobe pieces.
The current official AMI Paris US product page sells it as white cotton polo with ami de coeur, with unisexe Product. Its role is straightforward: it is the logo piece people recognise first, but cut as a real wardrobe staple rather than a souvenir.
Materials & craft
AMI’s product copy specifies: Classic-fit, Shirt collar, "ami" mother-of-pearl buttons, Red Ami de Coeur chest embroidery, Tonal Ami embroidery under back neckline, Made in Portugal.
How to choose & style
The easy move is to treat it as the logo anchor and keep the rest simple: straight denim, tailored trousers, a plain coat or a crisp shirt. Size up if you want the relaxed AMI attitude; stay true to size for the neat Paris-uniform read.
