Totes Y’all Vanderbilt Tote

The cheeky canvas carryall that turned a Southernism into Draper James shorthand.

Story & heritage

Draper James' own blog calls the Totes Y’all Vanderbilt Tote iconic, and Wikipedia notes the signature bag was seen in the Gilmore Girls revival. The tote launched with the brand in 2015 and quickly became its shorthand: a practical carryall with a wink of Southern slang.

Contemporary coverage described the bag as a best-selling piece that sold out repeatedly; the official Nashville-store post said the beloved tote had already sold out twice online by October 2015. That makes it the rare Draper James product with both brand-confirmed and editorial-confirmed icon status.

Materials & craft

Us Weekly described the original as an ivory canvas tote with navy straps, and the later denim version as blue denim trimmed in white with the same Totes Y’all script logo and gold hardware. The available reference image shows the denim face, white trim, shoulder handles, two gold-tone floral studs and a D-ring at the upper corner.

How to choose & style

It works as the unapologetically playful carryall: beach bag, market tote, travel extra or the graphic note against a striped tee and chambray. Because the logo is the whole point, keep the rest of the outfit simple.
