Story & heritage

Franco Sarto is grounded in shoemaking rather than runway myth: Caleres describes the namesake designer as a Venice cobbler from age 14 who opened his own design studio in his early twenties and brought Franco Sarto collections to America in 1990. That makes the brand's icons most legible as everyday shoes with intentional lines: Mary Janes, loafers, slingbacks, sandals and boots designed to be lived in.

Franco Sarto's official home page links to Racer, and Macy's carries it as the Racer Pointed Toe Block Heel Slingback Pumps with a large review base. It is the dressier slingback in the icon set, distinct from Riona's flat raffia profile.

Materials & craft

Caleres frames the brand around Italian heritage, simple design and new classics, with today's creative direction continuing that focus on art, form, sculpture and purpose in each sketch, heel shape and selected material.

Macy's lists Racer as a pointed-toe block-heel slingback pump and shows a 2.25-inch heel in its product features, with leather and woven/raffia variants visible across Macy's, Belk and Dillard's imagery.

How to choose & style

Use Racer whenever a true heel is needed but a stiletto would feel too formal. The block heel balances straight trousers, a pencil skirt or a simple slip dress.
