Story & heritage
The Calvi — named, like the Béarn, after a place (the Corsican town of Calvi) — is the house's pocket-sized card case, beloved as an entry point into Hermès leather. Its charm is structural: a single piece of leather folded so the two halves meet in a clean envelope, held by a discreet snap.
Slim, light and stamped only with the small HERMÈS PARIS / MADE IN FRANCE mark, it is the most quietly recognisable of the house's small leather goods — a study in how little ornament a craft object needs.
Materials & craft
The Calvi is cut from Epsom or Tadelakt calfskin and folded so the grain meets symmetrically, the edges hand-painted and the press-stud the only hardware. The single Calvi holds cards in two facing slots; the Calvi Duo adds a separate compartment, and the Duo Compact opens to hold more.
It is made in France and offered in a wide rotation of colours, including a customisable version where the colours can be specified.
How to choose & style
The single Calvi is the minimalist's card case; the Duo holds a little more without bulk. Black and tan are the perennials, but the Calvi is most loved for its seasonal colours — it is small enough that a bright tone reads as a flourish rather than a commitment. It is the house's classic first purchase and gift.
