Story & heritage

The KENZOSCHOOL high-top is the house's signature trainer of the Nigo era, decorated with the Boke Flower — the Japanese flowering quince Nigo adopted as KENZO's central motif from his very first collection. It pays homage to founder Kenzo Takada's love of floral patterns while linking the flower to the house's heritage poppy.

The vintage, gym-shoe silhouette is modernised with a military-style metal plaque and ribbed toe reinforcement. The dog-tag is engraved 'KENZO PARIS 1970 / 18 RUE VIVIENNE / 75002 PARIS' — the Galerie Vivienne address where Takada opened his first boutique, carried literally on the shoe.

Materials & craft

KENZOSCHOOL is built on a cotton-canvas upper over a vulcanised rubber sole with a glossy toe cap and ribbed front reinforcement. The Boke Flower is embroidered at the side in red and orange; a metal KENZO Paris dog-tag hangs from the eyelets, and a practical side zip sits alongside the laces. The KENZO Paris red tab marks the heel of the sole.

How to choose & style

The cream high-top is the cleanest, most heritage-looking version — its retro gym-shoe shape works with denim, shorts and relaxed tailoring alike. The Boke Flower and dog-tag carry the house code at a whisper, so it reads as an elevated everyday canvas trainer rather than a logo shoe; keeping the canvas clean lets the embroidery and plaque do the work.
