MISBHV — pronounced "misbehave" — is a Polish streetwear label established by Natalia Maczek in 2014, with an aesthetic rooted in the hip-hop and club scenes of post-socialist Poland.

It began as a side project with Maczek's partner Tomek Wirski, a DJ, the two making t-shirts for friends to wear at clubs. Their first show came at a tiny Paris showroom in January 2015, drawing early stockists including Margiela, Antonioli and Browns; the same year MISBHV reached New York Fashion Week with a Bowie-inspired collection, and Rihanna wore one of its jackets in London.

Based in a former cable factory in Kraków's Zabłocie district, the brand draws on European rave and club culture, the 1990s disco trend and a DIY sensibility. In 2020 it became the first fashion label featured in Grand Theft Auto.

MISBHV shopping FAQ

Is MISBHV worth the price for streetwear?+

MISBHV sits at the premium end of streetwear, and the price reflects European craftsmanship rather than fast-fashion economics. The Polish label is known for first-class quality combined with experimental designs and unconventional cuts, which is what makes it so sought after. If you want a piece with a genuine post-socialist, underground point of view rather than generic hype, it earns its place.

Why is MISBHV so expensive?+

The label leans on premium European materials and small-scale production, and everything is made in Poland at its Kraków studio. Pieces are built to feel artisanal rather than mass-produced, which is the trade-off you're paying for. You're buying into a specific creative vision rooted in Warsaw's techno-punk scene as much as the garment itself.

What is MISBHV best known for as a first purchase?+

MISBHV made its name on monogram-print pieces and graphic, music-referenced apparel that captures its club-scene roots. A monogram or logo-driven piece is the most recognizable way into the brand, while its leather jackets show off the more elevated, runway side of the label. Start with whatever speaks to the club-and-rave aesthetic that defines it.

Where is MISBHV made and based?+

MISBHV is based in Kraków, Poland, with its headquarters in a studio in the city's Zabłocie district inside the former Telpod cable factory. The brand has around 90 retailers worldwide. Its Polish roots aren't just a manufacturing detail — they're central to the whole aesthetic.

Who founded MISBHV and when?+

MISBHV was established in 2014 by Natalia Maczek. The seeds were planted back in 2008 while she was studying law at Jagiellonian University in Kraków — after discovering fashion during summer jobs in London, she and her partner Tomek Wirski, a DJ, started making bootleg designer t-shirts for friends to wear at clubs. That DIY, club-born origin still defines the label.

What does the name MISBHV mean?+

MISBHV is pronounced "misbehave," and the name was inspired by a record store Natalia Maczek used to visit when she was eighteen. That blend of music obsession and a slightly rebellious attitude tells you exactly what the brand is about. It's a fitting name for a label rooted in Poland's club and techno scenes.

What is the MISBHV aesthetic and where does it come from?+

Emerging from Warsaw's techno-punk scene, MISBHV is rooted in the hip-hop and club cultures of post-socialist Poland and infused with a DIY sensibility. The duo cite a European take on rave and club culture, the 1990s disco trend, and the raw style of motorcyclists among their biggest influences. For its signature camouflage they even looked to the early works of Jean Arp, and to Andy Warhol when working on prints.

Who designs MISBHV today?+

MISBHV is led by founder Natalia Maczek alongside Tomek Wirski, her partner from the very beginning. Their shared roots in music and Warsaw's underground scene keep the brand's creative direction tight and personal. It remains very much a duo's vision rather than a faceless label.

Has MISBHV been worn by celebrities?+

Yes — in 2015, Rihanna wore a Matrix-black MISBHV jacket during a performance in London, an early moment of recognition for the young label. That kind of visibility helped push a Kraków brand onto the international stage. It fit naturally with MISBHV's music-driven identity.

Has MISBHV appeared in pop culture beyond fashion?+

In 2020, MISBHV became the first fashion label featured on Grand Theft Auto, a striking crossover for a streetwear brand. That same year it was featured in the fashion story of the Pavillon des Drapiers / Showroom Paris, a Paris fashion landmark. Those moments capture how the label lives at the intersection of fashion and subculture.

Has MISBHV faced any controversy?+

Yes — the brand has dealt with several copyright-infringement cases. In 2018 its 'Motel Mirage' bag used cover art from Sleep Chamber's 1985 album, and a year later another old album cover, Whitesnake's Lovehunter, appeared on its t-shirts. In 2020 a Shanghai-based photographer found one of his photos used as a print without permission. They're worth knowing if you follow the label closely.
