Story & heritage
S.T. Dupont was founded in 1872 in Paris and grew from travel cases into a luxury house best known for lighters, writing instruments, leather goods and cigar accessories.
The official listing says that in 2025 D-Initial becomes Initial, marking a clean refresh of the line.
Its longer, more tapered proportions are meant to read as timeless rather than decorative.
Materials & craft
This version uses black lacquer with a matte black finish and an articulated Sword clip.
The line is offered as a ballpoint, rollerball and fountain pen family, which makes it the most contemporary structure in the pen group.
How to choose & style
Choose Initial when the pen should feel slimmer and quieter than Classique. It works well for daily carry and contemporary desks.
It is the cleanest entry point into the maison's writing instruments if you do not want the more historic Classique silhouette.
