Story & heritage
Sundek traces its surfwear story to San Francisco in 1958, when SUN-DEK of California expanded into nylon and cotton-nylon shorts made for surfing. The house says the Rainbow Boardshorts era began in 1972, when a technical short with the unmistakable curved rainbow became an icon among surfers.
The current M504BDTA100 keeps that signature language intact: a short elastic-waist swimsuit with the back rainbow, quick-drying nylon taffeta, reinforced three-needle stitching, and a 35 cm outer-leg length in size M.
Materials & craft
Official product notes describe the M504 as 100% nylon taffeta: silky, lightweight, water-repellent, ultra-resistant, and built to dry quickly without losing colour or shape. The elasticated drawstring waist, internal mesh brief, side pockets, rear flap pocket, key loop, embroidered logo patch, and reinforced three-needle stitching make it a true swim-and-surf garment.
How to choose & style
Choose the M504 when you want the shortest, most recognisable Sundek proportion. Solid navy, white, or black keeps the rainbow graphic crisp; brighter seasonal colours turn the short into the outfit. It works best with a plain tee, an open linen shirt, or nothing more than slides and sun.
