The label is only your starting point. The cut name, rise, and garment measurements decide the fit.

Acne Studios has no universal runs-large rule: tailoring uses EU numbers, denim needs waist and length, and pieces range from fitted to oversized. Let the named cut and garment measurements settle the choice.
This desk-researched guide uses official conversion data, product specifications, and authorized-retailer fit notes. Acne Studios says its clothing follows European/German sizing and its shoes use European sizing. No hands-on fitting or measurement was conducted for this guide.
The Acne Studios examples cover cotton denim, yak wool, wool, hemp, and structured tailoring.
Think in measurements, not one magic size
According to data in the official Acne Studios size guide, women's EU 34/36/38 map to XS/S/M and U.S. 2/4/6. Men's EU 46/48 map to S/M and U.S. 36/38. These conversions anchor body sizing; item dimensions decide garment fit.

Oversized tops use separate bands; women's S/M covers EU 36–38. Denim overlaps too: waist 27–28 maps to EU 36/S, while 28–29 also appears under EU 38/M. Caveat: a conversion label cannot describe intended ease. The official size-and-fit FAQ directs shoppers to each product's garment measurements or Client Services when details are missing.
Five cuts, five different decisions
Regular fit jeans - 2021F
The 100% cotton 2021F has a mid waist, wide straight leg, slight flare, and long length. Acne Studios lists waist 23–34, lengths 30/32/34, and a 179 cm model in 27/34. Choose waist and inseam separately; sizing down changes the intended line.

The unisex 1981 is 100% cotton with a low-to-mid waist, wide leg, and long length. Acne Studios says it is designed to sit low and recommends one size down for a higher rise. The 180 cm female model wears S/Regular, EU 36/waist 27; the 188 cm male model wears S/Regular, EU 46/waist 29.

Build a two-minute fit record
In guidance published by Reviewed, Sara Skirboll, shopping and trends expert at RetailMeNot, recommends a soft tape and measuring over the underlayers intended for the garment. Nordstrom's measurement guide supplies the body landmarks below.
- Chest or bustMeasure the fullest part, keeping the tape level.
- Natural waistBend sideways; measure at the crease, then note where the intended waistband sits.
- Full hipWith feet together, measure the fullest point of hip and seat.
- InseamMeasure from crotch seam to preferred hem along the inside leg.
- Reference garmentLay a comparable piece flat and record chest, shoulder, rise, hip, and inseam as relevant. Compare garment measurements with garment measurements, not flat width with body circumference.

Start true to your measurements, then honor the cut
Confirm garment chest, shoulder, and length after the body conversion. Keep the chart band for intended oversized volume. For cotton denim, choose waist and inseam separately: the $510 2021F is mid-waist and long; the $670 1981 sits lower and offers an official one-size-down route to a higher rise.
