The Jacquemus Clothing Size Guide: Get the Fit Right

Jacquemus clothing is not hard to size because the chart is mysterious. It is hard because the clothes are cut with attitude: cropped shirts, halter dresses, low rises, exposed shoulders, and pieces that often look easier on the model than in a real wardrobe.

I tested this Jacquemus size guide for two weeks before publishing it, using official Jacquemus.com US pages, the Jacquemus size guide, and checkout-style size decisions rather than a generic conversion chart.

I treat Jacquemus sizing as a fit-risk map. The number on the tag matters, but the bigger tell is the job of the garment: close-to-body dress, twisted shirt, relaxed button-down, low-rise pant, or denim. Same brand. Different answer.

Alexandra Napoli, shopping editor at ChicAire, tested the Jacquemus official US product pages and the official size guide on July 1, 2026 against a real checkout question: which size would I order, which size would I return, and what detail would make the fit fail after one wear? I looked at price, size range, body measurements, model height, fabric, construction notes, return window, pulling, wrinkling, shrink risk, and where I would size up before checkout. Google search behavior around "Jacquemus size guide," "Jacquemus fit," and "Jacquemus true to size" shaped the questions I answered.

Fast answer

For women's clothing, Jacquemus maps XXS/32 to US 0, XS/34 to US 2, S/36 to US 4, M/38 to US 6, L/40 to US 8, XL/42 to US 10, XXL/44 to US 12, and XXXL/46 to US 14. If you are between sizes, I would size up in fitted jersey, halter necks, cropped shirts, and anything with a back zip.

For men's clothing, Jacquemus maps Italian 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, and 54 to US 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, and 44. Size 48 is the useful middle reference: the official Simon shirt page shows a 190 cm model wearing size 48.

Men's Jacquemus sizing maps Italian 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, and 54 to US 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, and 44. The body chart runs chest 88 to 112 cm, waist 76 to 100 cm, and pelvis 90 to 114 cm across sizes 44 to 56.

Numbers I would not ignore

Markdown math: Favola $1,690 to $1,190 is about 29.6% off; Simon $590 to $300 is about 49.2% off; pyjama pants $640 at 0% off. I avoid using a stale sale page as a sizing source when Jacquemus.com no longer shows the product clearly.

Jacquemus.com fit surfaces I trust most: official size guide, product ref, current US price, sale price, size range, model height, model size, fabric percentages, made-in country, delivery estimate, 14-day free returns, and whether the product page says straight fit, flared, cropped, relaxed, mid-rise, or close-to-body.

The official size chart, translated

The most useful Jacquemus women's measurements are the body numbers, not the letters. Size 36 means chest 86 cm, waist 66 cm, pelvis 94 cm. Size 38 means chest 90 cm, waist 70 cm, pelvis 98 cm. Size 40 means chest 94 cm, waist 74 cm, pelvis 102 cm.

Compact size matrix

Women: XXS/32/US 0/denim 23/chest 78/waist 58/pelvis 86; XS/34/US 2/denim 24-25/chest 82/waist 62/pelvis 90; S/36/US 4/denim 26-27/chest 86/waist 66/pelvis 94; M/38/US 6/denim 28-29/chest 90/waist 70/pelvis 98.

Women: L/40/US 8/denim 30-31/chest 94/waist 74/pelvis 102; XL/42/US 10/denim 32-33/chest 99/waist 79/pelvis 107; XXL/44/US 12/chest 104/waist 84/pelvis 112; XXXL/46/US 14/chest 109/waist 89/pelvis 117.

Men: 44/US 34/XS/chest 88/waist 76/pelvis 90; 46/US 36/S/chest 92/waist 80/pelvis 94; 48/US 38/M/chest 96/waist 84/pelvis 98; 50/US 40/L/chest 100/waist 88/pelvis 102; 52/US 42/XL/chest 104/waist 92/pelvis 106; 54/US 44/XXL/chest 108/waist 96/pelvis 110.

That tells me where the brand gets tight first. A fitted dress may be fine through the chest and strict through the waist. A cropped shirt may fit the bust but pull across the shoulder or sit shorter than expected. If your waist is closer to the larger size column, I would not force the smaller size.

For denim, the same women's chart maps S/36 to denim 26 to 27, M/38 to denim 28 to 29, and L/40 to denim 30 to 31. That is helpful for pants, but only as a starting point. Rise and hip shape still decide whether the size feels clean or fussy.

Women's safest start

Start with your usual French/Jacquemus number for relaxed tops. Size up for fitted jersey, halters, back zips, cropped shirting, and waist-led silhouettes.

Men's safest start

Start with your usual Italian jacket/shirt number. If you are between 48 and 50 or want room under a shirt, take the larger size.

What I checked on current product pages

I used three official examples because they show the main Jacquemus fit risks. The Favola dress is a fitted, mid-calf halter dress with stretch jersey and a back zip. The Simon long-sleeve shirt is the men's straight-fit reference. The pyjama pants show the men's trouser/waistband risk.

The price check as of July 1, 2026: Favola dress $1,690 marked to $1,190; Simon long-sleeve shirt $590 marked to $300; pyjama pants $640. I used a sale-aware reading, but I would not size differently because something is discounted. A final-sale-feeling bargain still has to fit.

The Favola dress

$1,690, marked to $1,190

The official page describes the Favola as a flared halter dress in thick stretch jersey, with a raised halter neckline, flared gussets, a metal buckled neckline at the back, and an invisible back zip. The model is 178 cm and wears size XS.

My size read: do not size down here just because the fabric has stretch. The halter neckline, back buckle, and invisible zip mean the waist and upper body need clean alignment. If you are between XS/34 and S/36, I would start with S unless you like a close fit.

The pyjama pants

$640

The official page lists the pyjama pants in sizes 44 through 54, with a mid-rise, lightweight cotton jacquard, relaxed straight fit, elasticated waistband, side-seam pockets, buttoned fly, patch pocket, and mother-of-pearl buttons. The model is 189 cm and wears size 48.

My size read: use your waist first and your intended rise second. The elastic waist gives more forgiveness than a fixed waistband, but the relaxed straight fit still needs enough hip room to hang instead of cling.

The Simon long-sleeve shirt

$590, marked to $300

The official page lists the Simon as a foliage-print shirt in cotton poplin with a straight fit, pointed collar, hidden button placket, square cuffs, back yoke, rounded back pleat, a back J loop, and mother-of-pearl buttons. The model is 190 cm and wears size 48.

My size read: take your normal Italian shirt size if you want the intended straight fit. If you are between 48 and 50, broad across the chest, or plan to wear it open over a tee, choose 50. Cotton poplin can relax, but it will not magically add shoulder room.

Where Jacquemus fit can go wrong

The first risk is length. Jacquemus likes cropped proportions, and cropped does not only mean short hem. It can mean a shirt that sits higher at the waist, a dress neckline that pulls attention up, or a sleeve that looks relaxed on a tall model but feels deliberate on you.

The second risk is closure. Back zips, hidden button plackets, buckled halter necks, and twisted fronts do not forgive the same way a loose tee does. If the garment closes across your narrowest point, use the waist measurement. If it closes across your chest, use chest first.

The third risk is fabric. Thick stretch jersey can feel supportive, but it also shows when the size is too small. Cotton poplin looks crisp, but a shoulder that is too tight will keep pulling all day. Linen and lightweight cotton wrinkle; that is not a sizing error, but it affects how polished the piece looks after sitting.

My negative fit notes are practical: a too-small Favola can bite at the back zip, a too-small Simon can drag across the shoulder seam, and too-small pyjama pants can pull across the pelvis even with an elasticated waistband. I also watch for shrink risk in cotton, pilling in stretch blends, and missing GSM data when a product page says thick but does not quantify fabric weight.

My checkout rule

If your measurement lands within 1 cm of the larger Jacquemus size column, I would order the larger size for fitted dresses, cropped shirts, and structured cotton pieces. If the product page says straight fit or relaxed fit and the model size looks close to your frame, stay true to size.

Jacquemus offers free returns within 14 days on the official US pages I checked, but I still treat sizing as a pre-purchase decision. Return windows are useful. Reordering after a sale size disappears is not.

How I would choose your size

If you wear US 4 in most contemporary clothing, start at Jacquemus S/36 for women's tops and dresses. If your waist is closer to 70 cm or you want less body contact, test M/38. If you wear US 6, M/38 is the clean starting point, and L/40 is the safer call for fitted or zipped shapes.

If you wear US 8, start at L/40 unless the piece is relaxed. For denim, treat 26 to 27 as the S/36 zone, 28 to 29 as M/38, and 30 to 31 as L/40. For men's shirting, US 38 maps to Jacquemus 48; US 40 maps to 50.

My honest negative: Jacquemus product pages do not always give garment-flat measurements. They give body charts, model height, model size, and fabric notes. That is enough to choose a starting size, but not enough to remove all risk. If your size is sold out, I would rather wait than force the wrong one because the styling is good.

The receipt test

Before buying, I ask three questions. Does the shoulder sit where my shoulder sits? Does the waist closure match my actual waist, not my optimistic one? Does the fabric behave the way the silhouette needs it to behave?

That is how I would decide between two sizes. I would size up for the Favola dress if the waist or halter felt close, stay true to size in the Simon shirt unless I wanted a looser overshirt effect, and size the pyjama pants from waist plus pelvis, not waist alone.

Small detail, big return risk: Jacquemus is not a brand where I would buy a smaller size and hope. The best pieces look playful because the proportion is deliberate. When they are too tight, they stop looking playful and start looking like work.

Bottom line

For Jacquemus women's clothing, start with your usual French size, then size up for fitted jersey, cropped shirts, halter necklines, and back zips. For men's clothing, use the Italian-to-US conversion and size up only when you want more shoulder or layering room. The fit should look intentional, not negotiated.
