Story & heritage
ALD’s New Balance work is central to the brand’s modern canon. The brand’s Wikipedia extract records three major New Balance projects beginning with the 997 in April 2019, followed by 990v2/990v5 and 827 projects; later releases keep that heritage-runner conversation moving.
The 990v4 is the cleanest current expression of that partnership: a Made in USA grey-area classic, recoloured through ALD’s muted palette and co-branded details.
Materials & craft
The official product page lists suede overlays, mesh underlays, an ENCAP midsole, rubber outsole, co-branded sockliner and Made in USA construction. It also notes the model runs large and recommends sizing down a half size.
How to choose & style
Treat the 990v4 as the grounding shoe for ALD denim, nylon shorts and fleece. Olive is subtle enough for daily wear but warmer than standard grey.
