Story & heritage
The official Origins page says the BM1-9 Okayama Smock is based on a vintage U.S. Navy salvage parka, a protective over-garment associated with World War II-era functional clothing.
Applied Art Forms modified that reference with an exposed front zipper, dropped shoulders, a large hood, patch pockets and adjustable tape details at the hem, sleeves and hood.
Materials & craft
The product page lists 100% cotton high-density Japanese canvas, large patch pockets, side-seam pockets, two large inner pockets, special tape construction and Japanese manufacture; this black edition is customised at the Amsterdam studio.
How to choose & style
Treat the smock like a statement shell: oversized over a tee in warm weather or over knitwear when the hood and pockets need to carry the silhouette.
