Story & heritage
Avirex was founded in New York City in 1975 and became known in the U.S. market for leather bomber jackets. Its own official store describes the Icon Jacket as an “original and iconic Avirex military bomber jacket” that is more than 40 years in the making.
The current Icon Jacket keeps the brand’s aviation vocabulary visible: crest patches, bold back artwork and a short bomber silhouette that connects Avirex’s flight-jacket roots with the New York music, sport and street-style scenes that adopted the brand in the 1980s and beyond.
Materials & craft
The official product description specifies 100% French lamb leather. The jacket uses ribbed trim at the collar, cuffs and hem, with Avirex logo and patch artwork placed across the chest, sleeves and back.
How to choose & style
Choose the Icon Jacket when the jacket is meant to lead the outfit. Black is the most versatile base; the high-contrast patches do the visual work, so it pairs best with straight denim, plain tees and boots or simple sneakers.
