Lion Stripe Jumper
The reggae-influenced lion knit in Freud’s red, gold and green vocabulary.
Story & heritage
The official product story ties the Lion Stripe jumper to Freud’s teenage memory of hearing Bob Marley and to her long-running admiration for reggae, Rastafarian colour and Jimmy Cliff’s wardrobe in The Harder They Come.
It sits beside the word jumpers as another autobiographical emblem: less slogan, more badge, but still built from memory, music and a shorthand graphic.
Materials & craft
Bella Freud describes it as a merino crew-neck jumper with a lion motif and Jah intarsia on the sleeve, finished with ribbed neck, hem and cuffs.
How to choose & style
Because the stripe does the colour work, keep the rest grounded: black trousers, dark denim, or a plain wool coat. It has more vintage-sport energy than the 1970 and feels best when worn casually.
