Woven Book Bag

A storybook-shaped accessory that turns book waste into Bethany Williams’ most recognisable bag language.

Story & heritage

Bethany Williams’ official project archive describes the Woven Book Bag as part of the SS21 All Our Children collection, developed with London accessories specialist Stevan Saville.

The bag was inspired by childhood reading wallets and uses fabrics woven by San Patrignano from Hachette Books’ waste from the children’s classic Horrid Henry.

Materials & craft

The official project page states that San Patrignano wove the statement fabric from waste materials using heritage techniques, and that the bag was made in four sizes with a detachable crossbody belt and customer nameplate.

The brand describes the Woven Book Bag as made from 100% vegan products.

How to choose & style

Wear it as the focal point: the woven book-cover texture works best against plain tailoring, raw denim or a quiet overcoat.

Choose the larger sizes for a deliberately graphic day bag, or keep the smaller version close to the body as an art-object crossbody.
