Story & heritage

Silk Jacquard Tie sits at Duchamp’s historical centre: Duchamp is a British mens luxury clothing and accessories company founded in 1989 by Mitchell Jacobs, a former Browns buyer. The brand first specialised in cufflinks, moved into ties in 1992 with bold colours and futuristic designs, and introduced shirts in 2006. By 2011 the company claimed to sell more than 60,000 ties a year, which makes the tie the clearest living bridge between Duchamp’s accessories origin and its modern formal wardrobe.

Materials & craft

The official tie pages describe Duchamp jacquard ties as crafted in Italy using silk, with a 7.5cm blade and self tipping; that makes pattern, colour and handle the point rather than novelty alone.

How to choose & style

Choose the jacquard tie when a plain navy or charcoal suit needs Duchamp’s signature colour hit; the pattern does best with a solid shirt and a pocket square that echoes one tone rather than matching exactly.
