Gosha Rubchinskiy shopping FAQ

Is Gosha Rubchinskiy's post-Soviet streetwear worth buying?+

If the post-Soviet aesthetic resonates with you, it's a label with real cultural weight rather than a passing trend. Rubchinskiy essentially pioneered that look in the 2010s, drawing on Russian working-class youth and skate culture, and from 2012 his production, sales and marketing were handled by the highly respected Comme des Garçons. That partnership is a meaningful endorsement of the brand's craft and ambitions.

How does Gosha Rubchinskiy compare to Vetements and Demna Gvasalia?+

They share a moment and a sensibility, both led by designers who grew up in the post-Soviet era and channel that into their work. But Rubchinskiy was clear about wanting his own identity, once saying he never wanted to be Supreme or Palace, he wanted to be Gosha. His signature is a distinctly Russian one, built on sportswear silhouettes and Cyrillic graphics rather than imitation.

What is Gosha Rubchinskiy best known for?+

He's known for collaborative sportswear and a strong Russian cultural influence. His collections are defined by sportswear silhouettes, roughly-fitting garments and unusual color palettes, often carrying graphic prints with Cyrillic typography and the colors of Russia's flag. That post-Soviet streetwear is what put him at the center of the fashion conversation in the 2010s.

Who is Gosha Rubchinskiy, and where is he from?+

Georgiy Aleksandrovich Rubchinskiy, known professionally as Gosha Rubchinskiy, is a Russian fashion designer and photographer born in Moscow on 29 June 1984. He aspired to work in fashion from a young age, and while studying at the Moscow College of Technology and Design he worked in hair and makeup, which first drew him into Russia's fashion circles.

When did Gosha Rubchinskiy launch his label?+

He started his men's fashion label in 2008. A pivotal step came in 2012, when he began working with Comme des Garçons to handle production, sales and marketing, which helped his post-Soviet-inspired streetwear go on to dominate the fashion scene through the 2010s.

What is RASSVET, and how is it different from the main Gosha Rubchinskiy line?+

RASSVET, stylized as PACCBET in Cyrillic, is a skateboard label Rubchinskiy launched in 2016. It offers more affordable options than his main line, with a focus on t-shirts and sweats. In 2020 it even collaborated with the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts on a series inspired by Japanese Edo-period paintings and prints.

Which brands has Gosha Rubchinskiy collaborated with?+

Collaboration is central to his work. He has partnered with sportswear names including Fila, Sergio Tacchini, Kappa, Adidas Originals, Reebok and Vans. In 2018 he also worked with Burberry on its Spring/Summer collection, bridging his streetwear sensibility with a heritage British house.

Why did the Gosha Rubchinskiy brand shut down, and is it back?+

He shut the brand down in 2018 following a scandal: that December, allegations were made that he had requested explicit photographs from a teenager and, later, from a man, both of which he denied. He relaunched the eponymous label in 2025, and as part of the relaunch introduced a new casting policy preventing casting via text message and adding a casting team.

What is Gosha Rubchinskiy doing now?+

His path has shifted in recent years. In 2023 he joined Yeezy as head of design, a collaboration that began after Kanye West lost his Adidas deal, but he announced the end of that work in February 2025. The same year he relaunched his own eponymous label.

What inspires the look of Gosha Rubchinskiy's collections?+

His style is rooted in Russian culture, and especially in its working-class youth. That shows up in sportswear-driven silhouettes, deliberately rough fits and distinctive color choices, frequently finished with Cyrillic typography and references to the Russian flag. He's also worked as a photographer, mounting an exhibition called The North Wind in Moscow in 2021.
