Story & heritage
First designed in 1965, the Consort became the garment most closely tied to Henri-Lloyd's early waterproof innovations. The brand's history places the jacket on Sir Francis Chichester during his 1966–67 solo circumnavigation, while later fashion coverage tracks its migration into Paninaro and Madchester wardrobes.
The current Consort Original keeps that bridge intact: a practical sailing-derived coat with enough polish to read as everyday outerwear rather than pure foul-weather kit.
Materials & craft
Henri-Lloyd describes this version as a waterproof, PFC-free jacket with diamond-shaped quilting, 100% recycled polyester fill, double storm flaps, a padded collar, adjustable cuffs, rear venting and a recycled Consort badge.
How to choose & style
Choose navy for the most faithful city-to-marina reading. It works best over knitwear, polos or a technical midlayer, with the longer length giving simple trousers and deck shorts a sharper silhouette.
