Shown for Spring 2013, Voltage became one of Iris van Herpen's clearest statements on the dialogue between body and energy. On the official collection page, van Herpen frames electricity as the collection's core subject, with New Zealand experimental artist Carlos van Camp cited as an important part of its conception.
Official collection coverage also notes that the collection included another fully flexible 3-D printed dress, helping cement van Herpen's reputation as couture's most convincing translator of digital fabrication into movement-ready clothes.
Materials & craft
The defining craft story is the fusion of multiple flexible materials during printing so the garments keep a technical skeleton without becoming rigid.
