Story & heritage
John Lobb dates William to the 1940s and calls it the iconic double-buckle style of the house. The brand's own "How to wear 3 John Lobb signatures" editorial singles William out first, positioning it as one of the core shoes that defines the label.
Materials & craft
The current William page notes full lining, Goodyear welted construction, notched storm welts for rain protection and rubberised EVA soles for durability and flexibility. Like the rest of the line, it is hand-crafted in Northampton over 190 steps.
How to choose & style
William has enough hardware presence to anchor plain tailoring on its own. It also works as the formal shoe for someone who finds cap-toe oxfords too sober, especially in dark brown or oxblood-toned leathers.
