Story & heritage
The Open Walk is the higher-cut sibling of the Summer Walk within Loro Piana's White Sole icon family, launched as part of the line that was inspired by life on the deck. Where the Summer Walk is a low loafer, the Open Walk rises to the ankle — closer to a chukka or laceless desert boot — extending the deck-shoe ease into cooler seasons.
Like the rest of the White Sole family it carries the sailing heritage of the Loro Piana brothers, and is offered across the house's most prized materials, from supple suede and calfskin to the brand's emblematic Wish Wool — a hybrid of footwear comfort and the maison's textile obsession.
Materials & craft
The Open Walk is built on the same unlined, hand-finished moccasin logic as the Summer Walk, cut from soft suede over a flexible white rubber sole embossed with the all-over Loro Piana monogram. The laceless ankle entry uses a hidden elasticated gusset for an easy pull-on fit; the apron seam is hand-stitched, and the shoe is made in Italy.
How to choose & style
The Open Walk is the transitional-season pick — it does what the Summer Walk does for spring but carries into autumn with trousers and knitwear. Deep maroon, dark brown and navy suedes are the most versatile; the higher cut pairs cleanly with cropped or tapered trousers. Like its loafer sibling it is unstructured and softens further with wear.
