Story & heritage
The Sesia is named after the Sesia river that crosses the Valsesia valley which Loro Piana has inhabited for generations and where its mills still operate. The river's sinuous bends — and the organic forms of modernist Italian design — inspired the curved shapes that define the bag, another of the house's signature designs rooted in its sense of place.
Like the Loom and the Bale, the Sesia belongs to the family of bags that the maison built around references to its own geography and textile production, turning the landscape of Piedmont into a leather silhouette.
Materials & craft
The Sesia is made in Italy from butter-soft calfskin, certified to high environmental standards and dyed with natural pigments, then tanned and finished with gentle techniques. Its signature is the curved base seam that echoes the river's bends, finished with a small silver-tone Loro Piana crest stud; larger versions add a linen-and-cotton canvas insert treated with Rain System®. Offered from Micro through L sizes.
How to choose & style
The Sesia is the soft, structured tote of the line — its curves give it a gentler character than a boxy bag, and it carries a day's essentials without bulk. Olive, natural and black are the most versatile; the medium is the everyday scale. It is the choice for someone who wants the house's craft in a quieter, more practical shape.
