Story & heritage
René Caovilla’s history page says the Cleo was created in 1968 after René transformed a Roman snake bracelet into the now-famous ankle-wrapping sandal. The maison still presents Cleo as one of its most enduring icons, returning to it season after season without losing the coiled serpent that made it instantly recognizable.
The result is a style that reads like signature code: glamour, movement, and a silhouette that has become shorthand for the brand itself.
Materials & craft
Satin and leather frame the sandal, while serpent hardware, hand-applied rhinestones, a rounded toe, a stiletto heel, and the brand’s stardust sole do the rest. It is made in Italy and built as a jewel-like evening shoe.
How to choose & style
Let Cleo carry the look: pair it with a column dress, a sharp suit, or clean denim and keep the rest of the outfit quiet so the spiral strap can do the work.
