The Indian-born pair met as students at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology in 1994 — Sachin studying fashion design, Babi textiles — and began as embroidery craftsmen working authentic Indian threadwork. Introduced to Oscar de la Renta in 1997, they earned a place embroidering his evening gowns, and went on to supply embroidery for other top houses.
Their contemporary womenswear line specialises in refined evening gowns and separates, regularly featured in fashion magazines and worn by celebrities. They had earlier launched the luxury home brand Ankasa in 2004, and during the pandemic shifted the business toward direct-to-consumer e-commerce.
