Story & heritage
The official page calls this a long-sleeve version of Sunspel’s iconic Riviera Polo, first developed in the 1950s for warm days on the French Riviera and later adapted for Daniel Craig’s first appearance as James Bond in Casino Royale.
It belongs in the icon family because it preserves the central Riviera proposition: a breathable, refined polo that behaves more like a smart base layer than a sports shirt.
Materials & craft
Sunspel says the shirt is made from lightweight mesh cotton developed in-house, with a breathable feel and slim modern silhouette. The long sleeves simply extend the wearing season without changing the fabric logic.
The details are deliberately restrained: soft collar, clean placket, ribbed cuffs, and the same low-noise surface that makes the short-sleeve Riviera recognizable.
How to choose & style
Wear it under a jacket in place of knitwear, or with pleated trousers when a short-sleeve polo feels too casual. Navy is the safest icon read; black turns it more evening.
