Swear

Intimate apparel cut for Asian fits — a Taichung house that turned forty in Paris.

Swear
Re-checked daily
Founded on 22 April 1986, Swear is one of Taiwan's home-grown lingerie names — women's intimates designed, from the start, around the way Asian consumers actually wear them.

From its headquarters in Taichung, Swear builds women's intimate apparel and undergarments alongside a men's line, with manufacturing spread across China, Vietnam and Indonesia to serve both home and overseas markets. Collections are pitched to different age groups, the design always tuned to Asian fits.

In 2026 the house marked its 40th anniversary with a new campaign filmed in Paris and actress Porima named as brand ambassador — a Taiwanese label, four decades on, looking outward.

Swear shopping FAQ

Are SWEAR London's customizable sneakers worth it?+

If you want a sneaker almost nobody else will have, SWEAR is built for exactly that. The brand lets you customise materials and finishes — from suede and nappa leather to hairy calf and exotic textures — and each pair is made to order rather than pulled off a shelf. The value is in the personalisation and the chunky, unmistakable silhouette, so it suits buyers chasing individuality over a classic logo sneaker.

What is SWEAR London known for?+

SWEAR is known for bold, chunky, customisable sneakers with an almost sculptural shape. The designs lean heavy and boulder-like, a far cry from sleek minimalist trainers, and that distinctive platform attitude has made the brand a cult name since its 1990s club-shoe days. Today the hook is personalisation: you help build the pair.

Who founded SWEAR, and what is the José Neves connection?+

SWEAR was founded in London in 1996 by José Neves, who was just 22 at the time and opened a store in the city. Neves later went on to found Farfetch, one of fashion's best-known tech "unicorns," so the same entrepreneur behind a global luxury marketplace first cut his teeth on this chunky London sneaker label.

How does SWEAR's customization actually work?+

You start from a base style and choose materials, colours and finishes to make the pair your own — suede, nappa leather, hairy calf and textured exotic-look options all feature across the range. Because each order is built to your spec, SWEAR ships made-to-order rather than from stock, so a pair typically takes a few weeks to produce. The payoff is a sneaker tailored to your taste.

What is the Air Nitro, and is it SWEAR's signature sneaker?+

The Air Nitro is one of SWEAR's signature platform styles, built on a chunky air sole unit and offered as one of the brand's most customisable designs. Its performance-inspired upper can be reworked in a wide mix of materials, making it the natural starting point if you want the full SWEAR personalisation experience on the brand's most recognisable shape.

Did SWEAR really collaborate with Vetements?+

Yes. SWEAR worked with the influential label Vetements on a chunky sneaker collaboration in 2018, alongside other tie-ins such as Gypsy Sport. Those collaborations landed right as oversized, exaggerated "ugly" sneakers were peaking in fashion, and they reinforced SWEAR's place in that chunky-sneaker conversation.

Is SWEAR a vintage 90s brand or a current label?+

It is both, in a sense. SWEAR first made its name in the 1990s as a chunky club-shoe brand, then relaunched around 2017 with a focus on made-to-order customisation. So you will see genuine vintage pairs on the resale market as well as new, personalised models from the modern incarnation — they come from the same lineage but are quite different propositions.

Should I buy vintage SWEAR or a new made-to-order pair?+

It depends on what you want. Vintage 90s pairs carry real cult appeal but, as some collectors caution, older going-out shoes can be fragile if worn hard. The modern made-to-order sneakers are the safer bet for everyday wear and let you choose your own materials and finish. Buy vintage for the archive piece; buy new if you actually plan to walk in them.

Are SWEAR sneakers comfortable for daily wear despite the chunky build?+

The platform-and-air-sole construction gives height and a planted feel, and many wearers enjoy the cushioned ride, but these are statement sneakers first. The heft and boulder-like shape mean they make more impact as a fashion piece than as a minimalist daily trainer. If all-day lightness is your priority, go in knowing the silhouette is deliberately substantial.

When is the best time to order from SWEAR?+

Because most pairs are made to order and take a few weeks, plan ahead rather than expecting an instant buy — order well before any event you have in mind. Seasonal changeovers can be a good moment to find ready styles at better value, but the brand's real draw is customisation, so the smartest time to buy is simply when you have settled on the materials and colourway you actually want.
