Story & heritage
TOMS began in 2006 after Blake Mycoskie’s trip to Argentina, where the alpargata — a simple canvas slip-on — became the starting point for the brand’s North American shoe idea.
The current official Classic Alpargata collection calls it “the iconic silhouette that started it all,” and this black Heritage Canvas version keeps the original proposition simple: a light, easy slip-on built around everyday comfort.
Materials & craft
Official product details list Heritage Canvas upper made primarily with jute—a preferred eco-fiber that requires less water and fewer chemicals.; Non-removable insole made with 50% eco content including 25% recycled PU foam, 15% recycled rubber, and 10% bio-oils.; Elastic gore for easy fit.; Vegan; Exclusive to TOMS.com.
How to choose & style
Wear it as the low-key TOMS baseline: cropped denim, linen trousers, easy summer dresses, or anything that benefits from a quiet black slip-on rather than a sneaker.
Black reads most classic; navy, natural, red, and all-black versions shift the same shape from beach-casual to city-simple.
