Originally from Shenzhen, Chen moved to London at seventeen to study at Central Saint Martins, interning for Marchesa, Vera Wang and Alexander Wang along the way. Her 2015 debut collection, The Rite of Spring, leaned on bold colour and eccentric weaving and won the Fashion Scout Ones to Watch award; since 2017 she has shown on the official Milan Fashion Week calendar.
She broke through to a wider audience on Netflix's Next in Fashion, and has collaborated widely — H&M (as the first Chinese designer to do so), Adidas Originals, Canada Goose, Swarovski and M.A.C among them. Her work stocks at Lane Crawford, NET-A-PORTER, Selfridges and Luisaviaroma, and she has appeared on Forbes China's 30 Under 30 and the Business of Fashion 500.
