Story & heritage
The B-Bold is one of the defining sneakers of Olivier Rousteing's footwear era — a sculptural take on the sock sneaker, with a knit upper that rises into a high collar and a chunky, cut-out midsole that reads as carved architecture.
It sits alongside the Unicorn and B-Court as the third pillar of Balmain's modern sneaker identity, and is the most overtly futuristic of the three: where the B-Court is minimal, the B-Bold is all sculpted sole and technical knit.
Materials & craft
The B-Bold (and its B-Bold Runner evolution) is built on a stretch-knit and mesh sock upper pulled over the foot and held by webbing-strap detailing at the vamp and ankle and a lace cage. The signature is the sculptural midsole — a chunky black-and-white unit with sleek scalloped cut-outs — sitting over a treaded rubber outsole. Versions run from all-black knit to neon and PB-monogram sock editions.
How to choose & style
The B-Bold is a statement shoe — the sock collar and carved sole dominate a look, so it works best with simple, relaxed pieces that let the silhouette read. All-black knit is the most wearable; the sculptural sole is the point, so tapered or cropped trousers that show it off suit it best.
