Gemini 3-in-1 Jacket
The zip-in layering idea that made wet-weather dressing modular before modular became a buzzword.
Story & heritage
Brand history notes that Berghaus introduced the Gemini jacket in the 1980s, allowing a walking jacket to take a zip-in fleece. That simple InterActive idea became one of the house's most recognisable practical signatures.
Current Gemini jackets carry the same logic forward: one outer shell, one removable warm layer, and enough flexibility to handle mild rain, cold commutes and mixed hill days without changing systems.
Materials & craft
The current RG Alpha Gemini combines a waterproof Hydroshell outer with a removable inner layer, using Berghaus' InterActive connection points so insulation and shell work as a single unit. The shape is less theatrical than the archive colour-block shells, but it is one of the brand's clearest product ideas.
How to choose & style
This is the practical one: wear the shell alone in wet spring weather, the inner on dry cold days, and both together when conditions swing. Black is the most office-friendly; green and dark blue keep the hillwalking character visible.
