Berghaus created MtnHaus as a design-and-development team to work with sponsored athletes on challenge-specific kit. The MTN Arete line belongs to that performance-minded vocabulary: light, warm, and built for movement in the mountains.

Arete's place in the icon set is contemporary rather than archival. It shows where Berghaus' old expedition logic has moved: less bulk, more packability, and a clearer split between shell, mid-layer and insulation duties.

Materials & craft

The current Ultra Down Hoody uses Hydrodown insulation in a lightweight hooded form. Official product data highlights warmth, packability and mountain use, with the hood and baffles tuned for layering under or over weather protection.

How to choose & style

Wear it as the warm piece in a technical system: over a base layer on dry cold climbs, or under a shell when the weather turns. Black is the easy version; the yellow-and-purple colourway pairs naturally with the Extrem shell language.
