Story & heritage
Berluti traces its story to 1895, when Alessandro Berluti founded the Paris house that would become known for leather finishing, shoes and patina. The Alessandro carries that origin directly in its name: Berluti describes it as a model created by Torello Berluti and named in homage to his father Alessandro.
Its identity is spare and exacting — a single-piece Oxford with no visible seams, a three-eyelet lace front and the long, polished shape that makes the shoe read unmistakably Berluti even before the patina is noticed.
Materials & craft
The current Alessandro Demesure is made in Italy in Venezia calf leather with Berluti’s patina finish. The official product construction lists a Blake sole, leather outsole, supple leather lining and hand-written outsole markings, keeping the focus on a clean one-piece upper.
How to choose & style
Choose Nero Grigio or a deep brown patina for formal tailoring; the silhouette is elongated enough to sharpen a suit without needing decorative broguing. More vivid patinas work best when the rest of the outfit stays quiet.
