Story & heritage
Berluti’s own icon page ties the Andy loafer to Andy Warhol and describes the model as a bespoke request from the 1960s that entered wider production in the 1990s. That origin explains the shoe’s tension: polished enough for tailoring, casual enough to wear without laces.
The signature is the high penny bar over a pared-back vamp, giving the loafer a longer, cleaner line than classic American campus loafers.
Materials & craft
The Andy Demesure is made from Venezia calf leather with a supple leather lining and leather outsole. Berluti lists Blake construction for the current loafer, with the penny strap and moccasin stitching providing structure without breaking the sleek surface.
How to choose & style
The Andy is easiest with soft tailoring: cropped trousers, no-show socks and a jacket with relaxed shoulders. Black-grey patina reads metropolitan; brown patina feels warmer and more weekend-ready.
