Story & heritage
The Desert Trek is one of Clarks Originals' named icons. Clarks' UK Originals page says the shoe has been one of the brand's best-loved designs since its introduction in the 1970s, while the US Originals page credits Lance Clark's 1972 design.
Its signature is immediately visible: the central forefoot seam, foot-shaped fit, natural crepe sole and the Trek Man mark at the heel.
Materials & craft
The sand suede Desert Trek is listed with a suede upper, unlined interior, leather sock and a crepe/EVA midsole. The flat laces and Originals fobs keep the finish casual, while the central seam gives the shoe its sculptural identity.
How to choose & style
The Desert Trek is the choice when the Desert Boot feels too familiar. Let the centre seam show under cropped denim or wide chinos; sand suede makes the silhouette lighter and easier for spring and summer.
