Story & heritage
Ewing Athletics identifies the 33 HI as its flagship shoe and an exact retro of the 1990 original. Wikipedia also names it as the brand’s most popular model, linking it to the early-1990s run when Patrick Ewing’s own company grew from a player signature project into a cult basketball label.
The 33 HI anchored the 2012 relaunch: GPF Footwear partnered with Patrick Ewing and David Falk to bring the brand back, starting with the original 33 HI and a New York City launch that drew lines and sold through quickly.
Materials & craft
The current OG White/White product page describes a premium tumbled leather upper, a reversible ankle strap that can be worn on the front or back, and a full-length PU midsole for cushioning. The white makeup is presented by the brand as true to the original.
How to choose & style
Treat the 33 HI like a boot-height basketball sneaker: straight denim, sweats and varsity layers let the collar and strap do the work. White/White is the archival blank canvas; Knicks-adjacent colorways read louder and more collectible.
