Casio’s official copy says the GMW-B5000 Series inherits the square design of the original 1983 DW-5000C and gives it full-metal treatment with smartphone linking.
Wikipedia also records the GMW-B5000 as part of the Bluetooth, Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6 expansion of the square line.

The watch uses a stainless-steel case and bracelet, shock-resistant fine resin cushioning between metal bezel and case, Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6, Bluetooth link and high-luminance LED backlight.
