Story & heritage
JMM says TORINO is inspired by the Teatro Regio Torino, the historic Italian theatre redesigned by Carlo Mollino, and notes that the style was first released in Spring 2018. The result is a frame with a formal, almost staged confidence: bold, architectural, and a little operatic.
That background makes TORINO one of the clearest examples of JMM's design-literary taste. Its continued presence in The Icons shows that the frame has long since graduated from seasonal flourish to house standard.
Materials & craft
Official variant details specify a 10mm cured cellulose acetate frame with custom double-laminated temples, arrowhead pins, a custom engraved wirecore, a tension-secured 7-barrel hinge, and CR39 6-base lenses with backside anti-reflective treatment. The same master-artisan, small-batch construction language from JMM's craftsmanship section applies here as well.
How to choose & style
TORINO is best when treated as the finishing move rather than the starting point. Keep the rest of the look disciplined and let the frame deliver the ornament through line, gloss, and proportion.
