Juicy Couture is an American casualwear brand founded in 1997 by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, best known for the velour tracksuits that became a 2000s luxury staple.

The two friends had started a label called Travis Jeans in 1989 selling maternity pants, renaming it Juicy Couture in 1996. Every item carried the signature crest — two Scottish terriers holding a shield and "Love P&G" for Pamela and Gela.

The brand built fame by sending designs to celebrities: the velour tracksuit, custom-designed for Madonna and introduced in 2001, became a phenomenon, soon worn by Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Liz Claiborne Inc. acquired the company in 2003, and in 2013 it was sold to Authentic Brands Group for $195 million. In October 2025 Juicy Couture named Angel Reese its global ambassador.

Juicy Couture shopping FAQ

Is the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit worth it?+

For many people it is, both as a nostalgia piece and a comfort staple. The velour set that made the brand famous in the 2000s is back, and shoppers tend to praise the soft hand-feel and the way the colour holds up with care. If your budget is tighter, the more affordable Juicy by Juicy Couture line sold through department stores is the easier entry point.

Is Juicy Couture good quality?+

It sits in the casualwear-with-a-luxury-edge bracket rather than fast fashion, and the velour is the part people single out for its plush, slightly sheeny finish. The original line is pricier and more substantial, while the licensed offshoots are lighter on the wallet. As with most velour, gentle washing is what keeps it looking new.

What is Juicy Couture best known for?+

The velour tracksuit, without question. Juicy Couture is an American casualwear brand best known for the velour tracksuits that became a luxury staple in the 2000s, and the matching jacket-and-pant set is still the piece the name conjures. The label has since grown into denim, handbags, shoes, swimwear, fragrance and more, but velour is the heart of it.

How do I spot the Juicy Couture logo?+

Look for the signature crest: two Scottish terriers holding a shield with three hearts and the words Love P&G, for founders Pamela and Gela, topped with a crown and a flowing Juicy Couture banner. The brand has used several tag versions over the years, including the well-known square tag with the dogs, and different coloured tags correspond to different garments.

What does the P&G on Juicy Couture pieces mean?+

It stands for Pamela and Gela, the brand's two founders, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor. The Love P&G wording is woven right into the crest logo alongside the two terriers, so it's a small signature of the women who started the label in 1997.

Who founded Juicy Couture and when?+

Two friends, Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor, founded Juicy Couture in 1997. The pair had earlier started a label called Travis Jeans in 1989 selling maternity pants, renamed it Juicy Couture in 1996, and built the brand out of California.

How did the Juicy Couture tracksuit become so famous?+

Celebrity power. In 2001 the now-famous tracksuit was introduced and custom-designed for Madonna, who turned velour into a trend, and by 2004 it was everywhere on stars like Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. The founders had deliberately sent finished designs to celebrities to get attention, and it worked almost instantly.

Who owns Juicy Couture now?+

The brand changed hands more than once. Liz Claiborne, later Fifth & Pacific, acquired it in 2003, then in 2013 Fifth & Pacific sold Juicy Couture to Authentic Brands Group for $195 million, which is the owner behind its more recent revival.

Where can I buy Juicy Couture in the US?+

For a stretch you couldn't easily, the company closed its US stores by mid-2015 while keeping its international shops open. Since then it has returned through other channels, beginning to sell in Kohl's in 2014 and through JCPenney, which started carrying Juicy by Juicy Couture in 2021.

What is the Juicy Couture fragrance line?+

Fragrance is one of the brand's biggest categories, and the best-known scents are the eponymous Juicy Couture and Viva La Juicy. They sit alongside a sprawling range that spans clothing, denim, handbags, shoes, intimates, swimwear, accessories and sunglasses.

Is Juicy Couture making a comeback?+

It is. In October 2025 the brand named athlete Angel Reese as its global ambassador and creative collaborator, launched a signature apparel collection called Angel Couture co-designed with her, and made her the face of the Viva La Juicy fragrance, part of a broader revival of the velour era.
