Scott walked store to store selling to Austin boutiques; in 2005 her designs accessorized Oscar de la Renta's spring 2006 runway show, and a Nordstrom order during the 2008 financial crisis gave her the exposure to expand. Her first retail store opened on Austin's South Congress Avenue in 2010, alongside her e-commerce business and the brand's signature Color Bar experience.
In 2016 she sold a minority stake to Berkshire Partners at a $1 billion valuation, and her brand now spans fashion jewelry, fine jewelry, home and beauty, sold at Selfridges, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and over 1,000 specialty boutiques. Scott stepped down as CEO in 2021, keeping the Executive Chairwoman role, and is known for philanthropy through the Kendra Cares and Kendra Gives Back programs.
