Inspired by Toms Shoes, the pair set up a beanie stand outside Quinn's family restaurant, stocked with 400 hats from a Portland knitting mill. The mission: give a hat to every child battling cancer and support the fight against pediatric cancer. Beyond beanies, the brand makes headbands, scarves, blankets and apparel.
Originally a registered nonprofit, it converted to a for-profit corporation in 2016 and grew nationally fast. In 2025 co-founder Zach Quinn reacquired the brand and relaunched it, restoring the original Buy One, Give One model.
