Shuttered after the 1991 surf-industry crash, it was revived by Bob McKnight and Danny Kwock in 1992 and signed surfer Lisa Andersen in 1993. Differentiated from the men's Quiksilver line, the name was chosen because it sounded like a punk band or club — and is also the name of the daughters of both McKnight and co-founder Alan Green. Its heart-shaped logo is two Quiksilver wave icons mirrored and rotated.
Roxy grew into the largest action-sport fashion apparel brand for young women, expanding into accessories, wetsuits, footwear and hard goods, with sub-brands Roxy Girl and Teenie Wahine. It sits within Boardriders alongside Quiksilver and DC Shoes, owned by Authentic Brands Group since 2023.
