Story & heritage
The official Y-3 US assortment carries the Gazelle as one of its adidas archive silhouettes. In the Y-3 context, the familiar terrace profile becomes darker, lower and more graphic.
It matters because Y-3 is not only futuristic footwear. The line also shows how Yohji’s restraint can edit familiar adidas shapes into fashion basics.
Materials & craft
Official imagery shows a black low-top Gazelle with contrast stripes, Y-3 sole and detail views of the tongue, vamp and outsole. The silhouette stays close to the archive shoe while the finish becomes more severe.
The shape is compact, so the craft read comes through materials, edge contrast and the precision of the three-stripe placement.
How to choose & style
It is the easiest Y-3 shoe for everyday proportions: straight denim, black wool trousers, track pants or a simple coat all work because the silhouette stays narrow.
