Story & heritage
Adidas' Gazelle category copy says the shoe was created in 1966 for indoor sports and became a signature sneaker over more than 50 years. The BB5478 product page frames this version as a one-to-one return of the favourite 1991 Gazelle.
That explains the Gazelle's place in Originals: less technical than a runner, softer than a leather court shoe, and instantly recognizable by suede, serrated stripes and metallic-gold naming.
Materials & craft
The official BB5478 page notes a suede upper and the 1991 materials, colours and slightly wider proportions. The low rubber sole keeps the line simple and close to the ground.
How to choose & style
Navy is the quiet classic; green and burgundy feel more terrace-coded. Gazelles look best when the suede colour carries the outfit — keep trousers simple and let the gold wordmark be the accent.
