ARCHIVAL MAC COAT
The clean mac that carries Aquascutum's waterproof origin story into the present.
Story & heritage
Aquascutum's weatherproof identity starts with John Emary, who founded the Regent Street menswear house in 1851 and patented a waterproof wool in 1853; the name itself means watershield. The house's coats served officers in the Crimean War and soldiers in both world wars, making rainwear and outerwear the most credible heart of the brand.
The Archival Mac Coat is a modern reading of that core vocabulary: a lightweight rain coat with the shoulder storm-cape detail and Club Check cotton lining that tie it back to Aquascutum's archive rather than to generic outerwear.
Materials & craft
The official product page specifies AquaPlus, Aquascutum Active's updated version of historic Wincol: a water-repellent 100% polyester outer with an internal membrane described as rainproof and breathable. Details include a Club Check 100% cotton internal lining, YKK double-slider zip, two applied pockets, Corozo four-hole buttons, a utility internal pocket and the archive umbrella back-shoulder detail.
How to choose & style
Choose this when you want the most classic Aquascutum silhouette without the volume of a full trench. Beige keeps the reference formal and raincoat-clean; it works best over knitwear, tailoring, denim or a simple sweatshirt when the outfit needs a precise outer shell.
