Story & heritage
Aquascutum's weatherproof identity starts with John Emary, who founded the Regent Street menswear house in 1851 and patented a waterproof wool in 1853; the name itself means watershield. The house's coats served officers in the Crimean War and soldiers in both world wars, making rainwear and outerwear the most credible heart of the brand.
The Archival Reversible Mid Coat turns Aquascutum's lining language into the whole garment. One side reads as a disciplined mac; the reverse turns the historic check into the main event, making it the most literal bridge between trench tradition and contemporary styling.
Materials & craft
Aquascutum Active describes it as an iconic double-face trench made in Hydro fabric with 15% nylon and 85% polyester. The official details list a classic collar, front panel with four-hole rubber buttons, front welt pockets, mid length, hidden-snap back vent, water-repellent finish and reversible construction.
How to choose & style
Use the plain side for commuting and travel, then flip to Club Check when the outfit needs pattern. The mid length is easier than a long trench with sneakers or loafers, and the reversible build makes it a practical single-coat packing piece.
