Story & heritage
Carnera is part of Bontoni's official ready-made shop edit, a plain-toe derby that shows the small Marche workshop's preference for hand-coloured leather and expressive classic shapes.
The ‘Carnera’ was inspired by the Gazzani family patriarch, Guido. The ‘Carnera’ appears deceptively simple, however, it actually embodies more hand craftsmanship than some of our more formal models. This plain toe medium chocolate pebble grain derby features a hand-sewn Norwegian construction and ultra-lightweight rubber sole.
Materials & craft
Official product details list Two-eyelet plain toe derby, Entirely handmade on our classic rounded toe, Cioccolato medio (medium chocolate) pebble grain, Hand-stitched Norwegian construction, Lightweight rubber sole, Lasted shoe trees included. Bontoni's craft pages describe a hand-led workshop process: leather is cut, sewn, lasted, welted, and finished through hundreds of manual operations.
How to choose & style
Carnera sits in the versatile middle: refined with tailoring, relaxed with knitwear and denim, and especially good where a standard dress shoe would feel too formal.
The rounded and chiseled Bontoni shapes like clean trouser breaks; avoid swallowing the apron or welt under heavy hems.
