Story & heritage
Brooks Brothers names the navy blazer as one of the Heritage Shop’s defining American style favorites. Its official product story ties the blazer to boating-team dress, the HMS Blazer legend and country-club “blazes,” while positioning the 1818 blazer as Brooks Brothers’ classic expression of the tailored jacket.
In the Brooks wardrobe it acts as the bridge piece: dressy enough for a tie, relaxed enough for chinos, and instantly legible through navy cloth and metal buttons.
Materials & craft
This 1818 version is cut in the brand’s Classic fit with a two-button front, center vent, full lining and finished sleeves. The shell is 100% wool woven in Italy, with a cupro-viscose body and sleeve lining and traditional gold- and silver-toned button language.
How to choose & style
Keep the first blazer navy. It sharpens an oxford shirt and rep tie, but it also earns its keep with khaki chinos, pale denim, white trousers or loafers when the goal is classic rather than corporate.
