Story & heritage
Brooks Brothers includes outerwear in its Heritage Shop and currently offers the Supima® Cotton Trench Coat as its classic inclement-weather layer. The product copy presents it as a closet staple built around traditional double-breasted trench construction.
The trench fits the same Brooks logic as the polo coat, but in a lighter, rain-minded form: protective, tailored and meant to sit over shirts, knitwear or a blazer.
Materials & craft
The coat uses gabardine-woven Supima® cotton with a water-repellent treatment, EVOdown Thermore® fill made with recycled materials, and leather and horn finishes. Brooks Brothers notes that its Supima cotton is American-grown and valued for extra-long staple fibers.
How to choose & style
Khaki works over navy and white better than almost anything. Belt it when wearing tailoring, leave it open over knitwear, and let the collar stand slightly in wet weather.
